It's Anything Goes over at Digi Doodle Shop

I made this card for a friend of mine who has cancer.  She thinks my cards are too sweet for her taste.  She prefers a more sarcastic, little bit naughty card.  The first card I sent her was of a house that fell on the witch.  This time she gets my cute card.  It will probably drive her nuts, but it will put a spark in her day.  Ha Ha.

This precious little bug is from a Digi Doodle set  called Doodle Flower Set 3 and you can get them here.  It is a real bargain containing 3 darling bugs and 5 beautiful flowers.   He is colored with copics, using a spotted background stamp and a dash of Stickles on his wings and some Paper Glaze for his eyes.  I think the paper is My Minds Eye and the blue is the flip side of the red.  The flower is probably Recollections and hilighted with Copics.  The center is a paper button cut from a SU button die.  The cloud was punched with a Friskars punch.  The ribbon is Celebrate It from Hobby Lobby.  The die cut was a Floral Doilies from Spellbinders.

Better Not Pout

Good Monday Morning to you.  I hope everyone had a great weekend.   Weather was perfect, not too hot, not too cool.  I did a bit of yard work and got my winter pansies planted.  We grilled out every night, sat around a fire in the Chiminea, drank a little wine and just relaxed.  Perfection!  Our GD, Ashley, is driving up from Charleston today to spend a few days with us.  Her visits are always eventful as she is spontaneous and full of fun.  Who knows, maybe we will get a little crafty time in and I can post her creations for you to enjoy.


Enough, enough, on to my card.  Still having my love affair with Better Not Pout Santa from Sassy Cheryl's.  He is a fast one to color and  quite versatile because of his size and shape.  I was going for the Vintage Look so I chose to color with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  I cut Santa out and popped him up with some foam tape. He is resting on Reminisce lace a paper doily and some more luscious paper  from Bo Bunny's Father Christmas collection.  A little Frosted Lace Stickles gives Santa a bit of holiday bling. I added a bit of Diamond Stickles on the DP and hot glued a K & Company key to unlock the Christmas Surprise. SU Crumb Cake card stock was used for the card base.

Keep Swimming Katie

How do you like this cute little fish?  The digi of a fish and the background paper is one designed by Jak Heath for "Swimming for Katie" fund raiser.  I have followed Katie this past year through her poignant blog postings about her battle with cancer.  She is having a rough time right now, so her crafting buddies got together and designed some stamps to help her out.

The little fish is cut from paper I made myself using the shaving cream technique.  All you have to do is put a few drops of re-inkers in a container of shaving cream and swirl it around.  Lay your card stock down on top of it and pat.  Lift it up blot it on a clean sheet of card stock.  Separate and lay aside to dry.  I liked the effect of the swirls on the fish.

Show Me Some Fun Thursday at Sassy Cheryls

 

I have been real busy working on Halloween cards for the special people in my life.  Four of the Halloween cards pictured are from last year, but I wanted to give them a little face lift.  I received this lovely pad of Halloween papers from Cheryl of, She Stamps,  and I couldn't wait to  work with it.  I just added a bit of paper here and there, applied some stickles, and punch outs to give them a 2011 update.  I made these last year for my grans, hid them and couldn't find them until after Halloween. :(  I am so excited I get to use them this year .  See that lovely card on my Copics Case?  The one to the right.   Cheryl of She Stamps, included that in package containing her Blog Candy of Halloween  paper and a DVD of Sleepy Hollow.  I was so excited to win. 

Something very interesting on my craft table is the glass pumpkin candy jar.  It was filled with Reese's Pieces, but my son and I love them and they were just sitting there so we ate everyone of them!  Now my poor pumpkin wants more.  I think I will fill it with a candy I do not like.  That way it will stay full!  LOL  The purple card with the fish on it is for the Keep Swimming fund raiser for Katie Rentz.  It was designed by Jak Heath and I had to have it when I saw how cute it was.  

There is one more card I would like to call your attention to and that is the Witches Hat.  We made that at my Inky Digit card club Tuesday night.  When I saw that GIGANTIC spider I thought of one person - Mina Hartley over at PinkPuds.  She has this little bittyproblem with spiders.  In fact, if you follow her blog, you may even have a picture of one showing up on your Dashboard occasionally.  I made this card thinking just of Mina, so enjoy Mina.  It is for you sweetie!

Well that's about it for me this week.  I am enjoying my new Heat Pump and continue to take bids for my roof.  Things are progressing nicely at the Compton household.  Sure hope they are doing the same for your family.  Have a great weekend, Linda

Santa's Baaaaacccckkkkk!

It's a sketch at Sassy Cheryl's this week and they wanted us to use pink for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Well I couldn't wait any longer to use this new digi I just picked up so I found a unique place for my pink.  Kinda crafty, I might say.  Ha Ha  When I first saw this adorable Santa (which you can get HERE, go on I know you want him) I knew what I was going to do with him.  He seemed to be saying I'm Baaaacccckkkk!  That is definitely a warning and a promise to all the naughty and nice little darlings out there.  When Sassy Dawn asked us to use this sketch, my world just got easier.

I wanted to use this pad of paper I had ordered from Aww Shucks, a Scrapbook store in Myrtle Beach.  I had been dying to use it.  It is from the Father Christmas collection from Bo Bunny.  Aren't these papers gorgeous?  The card stock is SU Crumb Cake and the black is from a package I bought at Michael's. I just sorta eyeball measured and cut the triangles.  Santa is just a rectangle that I used a circle punch to take away the corners.  My friend Jeni has a special punch that does this, but I just insert the corner half way into my circle punch (flip it over and do it from the back of the punch so you can see better) and punch.  The ornament base is made with a SU Ornament punch.  The have the matching stamps so I stamped one with Sahara Sand ink and cut it out.  The sentiment is computer generated and punched out with the same circle punch.  The leaves are from Brazill Paper Flowers collection.  I added 6 pink pearls for berries and it was done. Santa is colored with  Copics on Papertemptress Cryogen White card stock.  I have mentioned this before, but I absolutely LOVE this paper.  It has a sparkle to it that my camera doesn't pick up.

I Want My Mummy!!!

Good Morning people in Bloggy Land.  I am getting a brand new heat pump/air conditioner today.  While I was on vacation, my son called to give us the fabulous news that our AC/Heat Pump sprung a leak and caved in the ceiling on my upstairs landing.  Being the wonderful son that he is, he called a friend to help and they got the mess cleaned up and the unit temporarily working until we could get back.  So needless to say we have been taking bids on new units and finally made the decision, ordered the unit and today is the day!  I also forgot to mention that we are also taking bids on replacing our roof too, but that is a story for another day.  Isn't it lovely to be a home owner? Enough wining for now, on to my card.

It' purple and green week over at the Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenges.  You don't have to use a  Digi Doodle Shop image to enter the challenge, but why on earth wouldn't you? The have such cuties.  This one is called  Mummy Mouse  The one in the second photo is called Mice In Pumpkin.  When I looked at them I immediately thought of the nursery rhyme, The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe.  She had so many children, she didn't know what to do.  Soooo, I decided to use two images in my Halloween Card.  I am sending this one to my daughter for Halloween.  Hmmmm I wonder why?


The design papers are from MS Halloween Pack and really some of the pumpkins are sparkly.    The cardstock is from a DCWV paper pad that I picked up at Michael's for 50% off last week.  (I bought two one Brights and one Neutral,  Shhh don't tell).  I used the large scalloped square Nestability to cut out a mat, popped it up with foam tape and the used the flip side (orange and black spot) to mat it.  I cut a black scalloped circle with a Nestability and matted the cut out image, colored with Copics.  Popped a little "Candy" dots on the black for some more color.  It really needed more color , didn't it?  Ha Ha  The sentiment was punched from a SU Tab Punch and I wrote the words with a white gel pen.  I really hate using my handwriting, but I couldn't get the white on black with my PC.  The green goo border was made with a MS edge punch.  Still needed a bit of ribbon, so I tied the bow with yellow and white gingham.  After I finished the card I got the idea to use some gauze bandages for the bow.  I'll just hold that thought for the next card.  Better yet, why don't you pick up the digi and make a gauze bow yourself.  If you do please let me know so I can see your creation..

I popped the digi with all the kiddie mice inside.  I thought it resembled Mummy walking in the door of her pumpkin house and all the kids yelling at her at once.  (Sound familiar to all you Mom's, I mean Mum's out there?)  Sentiments were computer generated.
