Turtle's Mess

Hello People!  I haven't been doing much blogging lately.  My Mom has been my main priority lately but I did sit down to color today and finished up this little notebook that Kim Hecker (www.oakpondcreations.blogspot.com) taught at Inky Digit Card Club Tuesday night.   Isn't it cute.  I took a picture to post on our Inky Digits Facebook page and  started mentally scolding myself because of the mess on my craft table. I had to remove a stack of mail and bills so I would have room to sit down.LOL

So what do you do when you have a disgusting mess and can't even find a spot to color in?  Well you take a picture of the mess, post it on Sassy Cheryls' Show Me Thursday blog and make a solemn promise to NEVER DO IT AGAIN.

Happy Crafting everyone.  I have really missed posting at SC and hope to be able to rejoin everyone real soon.  Love to all of you crafty little peeps!

Love Linda

Here's a close up of the notebook.  I ended up trimming the strings after seeing them in this picture.  Just didn't like the stringy look to them here.  LOL

All Buttoned Up

I am back with my favorite male character.  This is Spontaneous Gus - Tidbits from Bugaboo Stamps.  Male cards are always a challenge and Gus has so much personality, my cards just create themeselves.  I created this for my DSIL whom I adore and just love to tease.  He is used to my humor and tolerates me with polite dignity.  Although I do have to say that sometimes he has outright smirked at me and has been know to show some gestures of disgust.  LOL .  I do love that boy.

Our talented Anne is our hostess this week and she wants us to button up our creations.  I love buttons and tend to used them almost as much as ribbons.  (Please note there is not a ribbon in site on this one!)  You should see what my other DT Sistahs have created with their buttons this week.  I peeked in at them when I posted my card and saw some really cute  designs.

Look at this great prize you could win this week.  I certainly would love to win this one, but unfortunately, as a DT Designer I am not qualified.  :(  But guess what you are.  So grab some buttons and go for it.  Can't you just see that lovely blue gingham ribbon in your stash basket?

Mother and Daughter, Mary and Andrea started the Ribbon Girl when they became frustrated at not being able to buy 'just a metre' of a particular ribbon or piece of lace - now card makers, crafters, cake decorators, stitchers and scrapbookers can choose to buy as much or as little as they need, even if it is just one metre!   There is an amazing choice of numerous types and colours of ribbon, twine, diamante picks and buckle slides, an abundance of beautiful vintage and modern style lace and seam binding ribbon, tiny pom-pom and ric-rac trim, plain, sparkly and polka dot buttons, fancy pins, charms, pearl and crystal flourishes, wool felt squares, seasonal and unusual embellishments, mulberry flowers, sticky tape. We stock only the best quality products such as Divine Twine, Berisford, May Arts, Zva and only offer for sale goods that we would personally buy and use ourselves.

Things With Wings

TGIF Friday is my favorite workday and my favorite release date too!  Totally PaperCrafts Challenge this Friday is for all of you flighty people out there.  Wendy is our "Hostess With The Mostest" this week and she wants to see things with wings. Now when I first saw the challenge I couldn't decide whether to use a fairy or an animal.  When I saw Digi Doodle Shop was sponsoring this week's challenge and Judy was giving the DT images to use I decided on this Old Water Pump.  I have long admired this image and never had the opportunity to use it.  I popped out some little butterflies and wallah I met the challenge.  Don't you just love the rustic simplicity of this image?  When I saw it I instantly thought it should be done in gingham checks.  I love gingham and couldn't decide which color to use, so I used 4 different colors ha ha.

I was determined to use a different card fold than the basic 1 fold.  How do you like the tri fold with the circle flap.  I am not sure if there is a proper name for this fold, but this kind of describes my card.  You should see the goodies my DT mates came up with.  They are so very talented, they keep me in awe every week.  Click here and see for yourself.  While you are there, find yourself a pair of wings and pop your design into the challenge.  You could be the  lucky winner of a $10 Gift Certificate at Digi Doodle Shop and believe me you will be lucky because there are sooooo many images over there for you to choose from.

The Totally Papercrafts Team is welcoming our newest DT member, Susan of Mix's Meanderings.  She is oh so talented.  I have had the best time snooping around her blog and seeing all of her fabulous designs.  Hop on over there and leave a little love for Susan this week.  You are in for a real treat on her yummy blog.

Let's Play Bingo!

My oh so talented Design Teammate, Victoria chose a BINGO challenge for Totally PaperCrafts this week.  I chose: Blue/Ribbon/Pearls to work with.  Those pearls were a bit of a challenge since I was making a card for a man.  But I was able to work them into the card without losing the masculine theme of the card.  April 7th is my son's birthday and this is his card.  I  chose this sweet little "Nathan" from Sugar Nellie's collection at Funky Kits.   because her reminded me of my son when he was small and sweet and so "angelic".   My son never went anywhere with out "Pooh" his Winnie The Pooh Bear.  So I colored this bear yellow to resemble Pooh.  I have a lovey, dovey, mushy, mushy poem for the inside of the card.  Hey, I am his Mom and it is my prerogative to get sentimental on his special day.

Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp  and they are offering a $25.00 gift certificate. (Sure wish I was eligible to win,.  They stock some wonderful goodies I would love to win)

Click right here and you can see all the talented projects my teammies have created for you.  We are welcoming my friend and our newest member, Kim Hecker, Oak Pond Creations to the TPC Design Team.  Hop on over to her blog and say hi.  She is an amazing artist and I know you will enjoy your visit to Oak Pond.

Clarenda's Carrot Surprise

It's Friday and it is Totally PaperCrafts Easter Challenge.  I really had some fun with this one.  My friend Kim of Oak Pond Creations drew this cute little carrot called Clarenda Carrot and was offering it for free.  I just fell in love with the sweet little face swirly flowing leaves and of course a darling little bow.  The minute I saw Clarenda I imagined her in a wreath shape.  Who could be happiest in a wreath of carrots?  Well the Easter Bunny of course!  So I dug out Cheryl Alger's Butterfly Bunny and popped him right in the middle of his greatest dream!  The ole' guy thought he won the lottery!  Of course I had to pop a big ole'' on my card to finish it off, didn't I?

I don't think the pictures allow you to see the dimension and texture I have going on in this card.  I printed and colored the bunny twice and popped him up with foam tape.  Clarenda's leaves are popped, curled up, and glued flat.  You can play with the leaves and ruffle them up a bit.  It makes the card a bit interactive and provides the illusion of the bunny hiding in and popping out of the greenery.  It' is really a fun card IRL.   I used a MS doily for a base to the wreath and my paper is all from my stash.  Sorry I can't give you a designer name.  Once again I cut the label strip off and threw it away before writing up my blog entry.  Sorry my space is so limited where I craft that I have to keep it relatively clear just to find anything.  LOL  (Can any of you feel my pain?)

Crafty Emma's Store is our generous sponsor at Totally PaperCrafts this week.

One lucky person will win a $10.00 gift certificate to spend.  Will that be you??  Remember you can't win if you don't enter.  Now quick like a bunny, hop on over to see what my oh so talented Design Teamies have created for your delight this week.  Warning, you will see lots of beautiful pastels and then my oh so bold card too!  I can't ever seem to get it right.  :(

I am also entering this is the Easter Challenge at Sassy Cheryls this week.  I always love playing in their challenges.  I should take a pic of my horrible messy desk right this minute and enter it in her SMT challenge too.  I think my camera is burried under this mess somewhere.  LOL

They are having a Easter Blog Hop over at Polka Doodles this week so I am entering this card there too.  There is some fab candy up for 3 lucky winners.  Check it out here.
Hugs, Easter Peeps!

Bovine Beauty

It is Friday and time for another Totally Papercrafts Challenge again.  This week we are having some fun with humorous cards.  There is definitely not enough laughter in the world and the gals over at TPC invite you all to join with us  in putting more humor in the world.  So put a smile on your face and make a funny project.  If you enter it here and win, you will get to select a wonderful prize from our special sponsor this week. I purchased my watermark over at Whimsy Stamps.  They have several templates for you to chose from.  Go ahead and check them out.

While browsing my digital library I came across this stamp called Bovine Beauty.  It is from Karen's Doodles.  I have had her awhile, but never used her.  Not much coloring on this one, but I know that my DT sistah, Sarah, the Stressed Stamper will love her glittery dress and hoof nails.  I had fun with the sentiments on this card and came up with so many funny ones, but in the end I chose to use the birthday sentiment because I always need birthday cards.  The paper is all plain cardstock except my sentiment paper which is my favorite Cryogen White from the Paper Temptress.  The Spellbinder Die is Labels 21, the embossing folder used is a  Cuddlebug one called Kassie's Brocade.  The glitter is Stickles, ribbon and button are from my stash.

Aren't you all impressed with me finishing the inside.  I usually don't take the time to do the inside.  Problem with that is when I need a card in a hurry I have to stop and complete it. :( While blogging  I have noticed that many of you are finishing the inside so fabulously and they put me to shame.  I am striving to finish the inside each time I make a card from now on.  Wonder how long that resolution will last.  LOL

Well I am off to bed because 5:00 AM comes early.  I plan on doing some major blogging this weekend and will stop by your blog to do some noseying around.  I would like to apologize for not being around much lately, but I am resolving to do better with that too!  This girl is going to get it together!!! Tea and Cookies Anyone?

Isn't this a sweet image from the Digi Doodle Shop?  In fact it is so sweet, it is called "Something Sweet" and you can get it here.  But I have to say this is also bittersweet, because it is my last challenge as a member of the Digi Doodle Design Team.  As you know from my last few posts, my Mom has not been doing so well and is in need of some TLC.  We have finally convinced her to move in with us and I am spending more time with Mom and less time crafting.  Now I didn't say I was giving up crafting, only limiting my time, LOL.  My goodness, if you took my Copics away from me I would not be fit to live with. LOL

The Digi Doodle Shop Challenge this week is to use a Digi Doodle Shop image in your creation.  Now that will be an easy one.  Just pop over to their store and pick out one of so very many precious images they have to offer.  Color it up and enter it here for a chance to win a Gift Certificate to spend at their shop.  Now do yourself a big favor and hop over to see what my DT mates have created to inspire you.  You won't be sorry you did.  There are some real cuties on the blog this week.

Take care ya'll and thanks so very much for all your kind comments and prayers for my Mom! They meant so much to me.

A Get Well Card for Momma

I had made this card for another purpose, but the events of yesterday changed it real quick.  My Mom has not been feeling well since my brother left Monday.  She kept attributing it to the excitement of her birthday celebration and sadness of him going home.  I have been trying to get her to come and live with me for the past year now, but she valued her independence so much.  Yesterday, this decision was taken out of her hands and she will now be living with me.

She did not answer her phone when I called yesterday morning.  I was at work so my son went over there to check on her.  She had fallen and several things were on top of her.  She was blocking the front door, so my son called 911 and the most wonderful firemen and medics arrived to break in her back door .  They wisked her off to the hospital before she could protest.  Turns out she has a couple of things going on inside her stubborn body.  She is now hooked up to antibiotics and fluids and will be the guest of the hospital for the next few days.  But this most wonderful doctor told her flat out she would have to live with me or go to a nursing home.  The spunky lady said, "What if I don't, I want to go to my home?"  The marvelous doctor said, "I will have to report you to social services and the decision will be out of your hands".  Guess what her answer was?  "I want to go to Linda's".

Hopefully she will be fine in a few days and home safe and sound where my DH and I can keep an eye on her.  God Help Us, this stubborn tiny little Irish lass will be a handful.  But she is my handful and thank God I have her to take care of.

I had planned on entering this card in Sassy Cheryl's Wearin' Of The Green Challenge this week so I will pop it in there now.  The image is called "Lady Bug In Love" and you can get him here!  I have used him before and love his shyness.  Just look at that face and those feet.  Can't you just feel his discomfort?  Ahh, he is indeed a cutie!

Happy St. Patty's day to all of you Irishmen and those who wish they were on St. Patrick's Day.  LOL

Ahoy Mates! It's One For The Boys at TPC!

Isn't this the cutest little boat you ever saw.  It is called Sail Away and you can get it here at MelJen's.  She is our sponsor this week and I LUV her designs.  They have that cute whimsical personality and I do love cute whimsical.  You can get a chance to go shopping in her store if you are this week's lucky Totally PaperCrafts winner.  Remember you can't win if you don't play.

I had so much fun coloring this little guy.  Of course I used my Copics, but I used a Sakura Jelly Roll pen in Clear to acccent it.  I used a SU Top Note Die to cut it out and it is accented by a flag string I made by cutting out trianges and attaching them to baker's twine.  2 silver brads attach the banner.  The letters are stickers.  I used a EK Success Scalloped Border to punch out some waves with the green paper.  Tied a piece of green tulle around the waves and used a little 3D  life preserver sticker to accent the bow.  DP is a gift an Inky Digit Pal and the red and yellow cardstock are from SU.

I chose not to add a specific sentiment to allow me to use the card for different occasions.  It could be used for a toddler's bithday, new baby, friendship,  encouragement card.  I''ll finish it off with a sentiment inside the card when I decide who I am giving it to.

Hop on over to the TPC Challenge Blog and see all the other male cards my DT has created for you inspiration.  Hope to see you there Dahlings!!  Big Hugs.

Happy 85th Birthday Momma

Here is how I spent my weekend.  We gave my Mom a 85th Birthday Party.  She chose the restaurant, El Cerra Grande in Myrtle Beach.  She loves her Mexican Food.  They even brought her a Mexican sombrero to wear for the candle ceremony.

Here's Momma in her Irish hat.  She wanted a couple of chips and no Salsa.

I just had to show off some pics of my Grans.  This is me with my 18 year old Grandson, Chase.  Yep he is a Basketball Player.  His Dad is sitting there in front of me.  Sitting, his Dad is almost as tall as me.  They both go at 6'8 1/2 and 6'7. Chase and my Mom share a birthday.
This is my youngest grandson Jonathan, aka, J Fin, Finny, Fin.  He is the entertainer with the Mexican dance for his Great Grandma.
Here's my 3 Granddaughters. Kaylee, Ashley and Caroline.  Aren't they just beautiful?  Bragging you say?  Well they are, aren't they?  Am I wrong in pointing that out?
This is me with my brother Bobby, his daughter, Bonnie and my Mom.

Whew, lots of pics to throw at you, but I just couldn't resist the ones of my Grans.  They are my babies after all.  LOL.

So that's how I spent my weekend.  No crafting since last week, so I will caress  my Copics tomorrow.  I am starting to get the shakes LOL.   I am entering this in Sassy Cheryl's SMT.    I am going to get over there and snoop around to see what everyone else has been up to.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.   Hugs, Linda
