#1 PAL

Sassy Judy wanted us to work outside the box this week.  Well I had been working on Dawn's Llama for awhile and thought he would look real cute with his "backside"  out of the box.  I also thought he would be cute sticking his neck out too.  So this is my final decision on this card.

Let me tell you,  I love this image Cheryl drew for our resident llama keeper Dawn.  I love it to bits, had to have it in fact.  Well Sassy Jeni was right when she chose the sentiment "Oh Spit" for her llama card.  That was real cute but when I was coloring my llama I was saying another word that rhymes with Oh Spit.  This dern llama was HARD to color.  I worked and worked, put it away and brought it out several times working on it.  Then I picked up a regular pencil and started coloring lines all over it.  Finally I was  satisfied enough to make it into a card.

I found this perfect sentiment over at TLC.  Paulette has the very best sentiments and many are free too.  It is my first go-to place when I am searching for a sentiment.  Check it out here.

I wound some black tulle around My Mind's Eye DP, tied and fluffed a little bow, popped a metal button from my stash on it.  I sponged some clouds in the sky and used some "Flower Soft" for grass.  I debated whether or not to extend the grass to the cut out area, but decided it was more interesting this way.  The llama comes with or without the ribbon, but I wanted to use it for #1 Pal.  Dawn's llama is colored with various shades of the E Family of Copics markers.  The blue ribbon is Copics and the lettering done with a Sakura Black Gel Pin.  I popped his eyes a bit with Paper Glaze.

I am entering this card in Sassy Cheryl's Outside of the Box Challenge this week.  Why don't you pop on over to her store and pick up this llama for yourself and show me some different ideas on coloring him.  Enter it in the challenge and you could win a Sassy Cheryl digi for your efforts, and believe me, she has some beauties too.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY USA

Some of you asked to see my completed banner that was on my workspace this past week.    We made it last week at our Inky Digits Card Club.  Our very own Shabby Chic expert, Lisa Murphy taught this project.  Don't you just love it.  She hand dyes the seam binding herself.

We did ours in celebration of the upcoming 4th of July.  But you can adapt the banner to any celebration you want.  I think it would look so cute hanging from a tree for a 4th of July backyard barbecue.  It certainly would make a wonderful birthday or baby shower decoration.  Just use your imagination and change the papers to match the occasion. You could even add a sentiment or personal note on the back of a flag and send it as a card in an envelope.

Sorry I don't know the name of the paper, but it was in a patriotic paper pad she found at Michaels.  I made the fan fold disc out of 1" x 12" strips and scored every 1/4".  Used some baker's twine to tie the metal USA letters onto coordinating buttons and hot glued them to the disc.  The stars are stamped in distress inks with a musical note background stamp.  Sentiments are computer generated.  She distressed some hole reinforcements for us to apply to both sides of the flags for strength and the stars were out of a heavier weight of white paper.  String it on ribbon or yarn or twine of your choice and, wallah it is done.

Thanks again Lisa.

Sassy Baby's First Steps

The Sassy Gals over at Sassy Cheryl's wants us to make a baby gift card holder this week.  Well Cheryl, obliged by putting some new baby images in her shop for us to choose from.  This is the one that caught my heart this week.  I am going to enter him in Sassy Cheryl's Color Me Challenge this week too.  I get two for one that way.  I have to admit that I also bought the new Special Delivery Stork Boy stamp too.  Actually it rebounded from my heart straight into my shopping cart.  Don't know how that happened.

I decided to make him a blonde with mismatched boots for fun.  I know they should have been a shade of brown or tan, but I wasn't in a tan or brown mood.  I used my Copics to color him with.  He looks like he is playing airplane and pretending to fly, so I used some dp  from DCWV the Nana's Kids collection.  It says Zoom Zoom Zoom, cardstock is SU and I bought the  scalloped card base.  Stars are punched with a  CM punch and popped them up with foam dots.  I cut some pieces of colored wire and wrapped them around a pointy thingey and attached them to the star burst with glue dots.  I used Spellbinders Circle and Label 3 to cut out the digi and mats.   There is a pocket on the inside to hold the gift card.

I know you are probably stroking out about using wires on a baby card. The Mom in me didn't want the wires on a baby card, but the designer in me said they have to stay!  So I will send this card with a proper warning about the wires, ha ha.

I made a little pocket on the inside with some paper and ribbon.  It looks kind of plain, but I will put appropriate embellishments and sentiments when I decide the final purpose of the card.  I wanted to put the sentiment "Plane Fare".  I still may, you never know.......

Have a good one, Sassettes and come join in the fun.  You may win a digi for your efforts!

I WON THE LOTTERY! WHOO HOO

Show Me The Money!!!  Look at that, I won the lottery tonight.  My son went up to rent a movie to watch and picked up a scratch off lottery ticket.  He let me do the scratching honors and I won $1.00.  Aren't I just the luckiest thing in the world?  Naught - Guess I will be going to work on Monday morning as usual.  :)

Here's a couple of things I am working on tonight.  I hope to finish my Challenge Card tonight and I want to put the finishing touches on the banner we made a Inky Digits Tuesday night.  It is a cutie banner that Lisa taught us how to make.  I'll post a pic of it when I finish it.

Oh yeah there's my bowl of popcorn.  My son and DH are in the living room watching scary movies and eating popcorn. I am partaking of my popcorn at my craft table.  Have to watch out for those buttery finger prints on my cards.

That's your snoop for this week.  I am off to post at Sassy Cheryl's SMT Blog.  Maybe my luck will continue and I will win the digi this week!  Want to try your luck?  Snap a pic of what you are working on and post it.  Link it up here and you could win too.  Plus you get to peek into the windows of your fellow crafters and see what goodies they are working on.

Butterlover's Test

When I was a little girl, just a couple of years ago, my friends and I would pick these little yellow flowers and hold them under our chins..  Legend has it that if your chin turned yelllow, you loved butter. If it didn't, you hated butter.  Lucky me, my chin always reflected yellow and today all 3 of my chins still turn yellow because I do love my butter.  Hear that Paula Deen?

Sassy Cheryl's challenge this week is to make a tent card.  This is a new shape for me and I really liked it.  There are some amazing cards from the Sassy Girls for inspiration.  The tent card was easy to make, but Buttercup Susie was not the best digi to use for a tent card.  Her legs are so tiny that she wouldn't stand up by herself.  So I made a little brace for her out of folded paper and foam tape which provided the support she needed.  Since the card has to close for mailing, I had to make a folded brace that would fold up too.  Worked really well.  I apologize for the shadows on the floral background.  The "tent" shadows showed up when I took the pictures.  I took some other pictures, but picnik and my intranet are not allowing me to upload them tonight.  AAArrrrggghhh!

I colored with my Copics and then took Pearl Ex powder and brushed on her dress for a bit of sparkle.  The flower has some yellow liquid pearl on it for a little bling. The grass is from Jolee's, flowers are Recollections, leaf punch is MS, finished off with a Baker's twin bow and a SU tag.  The card stock is SU and the DP is Making Memories.  My Granddaughter Kaylee was making a Father's Day card while I was working on this and she was surprised how fast this one went together.  I have a feeling I'll be making some more of these.  I already have some images in mind for a tent card and I saw some paper at Aw Shucks that will be perfect for one of them.

Hello People!!

I just want to admit that I am an Addict!  Yep, it is true.  I am addicted to paper (love the smell, feel and colors).  I am addicted to Copics all 400,000 of them.  Sorry, gotta have'em.  I love the feel of my tape gun in my hand and the ribbons, inks, buttons, and Spellbinders, Cuddlebug, and Cricut.  Don't mess with my computer because I HAVE to blog.  I am hopelessly devoted to them all.  And I found that I tend to get a wee bit (just a wee bit cause I am such an awesomely good-natured gal .)) cranky and restless when I can't sit at my craft table.

Well I just wanted everyone to know I am "HOPEFULLY" back, Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.  I can return to my commenting, joining in challenges and making cards.  I have squeezed a few cards in, but didn't even get time to post them.  Life has been busy with many birthdays, graduations and get wells.  Had a few little bouts with DH.  (He tried to bleed out on me), but I showed him.  Bad ole me took his bad a-- to the hospital and they fixed him right up.  Thought he could get away from me but I am not done with him yet.  Ha Ha

So I'll be posting real soon, maybe even later today.  Just wanted to let you know I did sneak a peek at your cards at work some, but couldn't leave comments.  Guess the Big Boss thinks I should be working, not blogging.  I think it has something to do with the paycheck, whatcha think?

I do have a picture to share of some devils in angels faces!  I just can't get enough of these loud shrieking girls.  They keep me young.

This is what I have had going on in my world.  Why not let us see what's going on in yours?  Take a pic, do a little write up and enter it into Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Thursday.  You may win a digi......

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge 66 Create A Gift Card, Tag or Box

This week Sassy Jeni challenged us to step outside our "card" box and make something a little different.  Little did she know I would be making it for her own daughter Savannah who graduated from High School.  Savannah just happens to be the President of our Stamp Club, The Inky Digits.  We have a little surprise  planned for her Tuesday night too.

I made a package of Thank You Cards,  packaged them in cellophane envelopes and tied them together with a yellow gingham checked ribbon.

I made a gift tag using Sassy Cheryls Frantic Graduate stamp.  I colored it with my Copics in Green and Gold (yellow) which are Savannah's school colors.  Sparkled the sash with a little yellow Stickles and used a Clear Stamp class of 2011 at the bottom.  A little yellow tulle to attach and I was done.  Fast and simple.  Used the black cardstock to match Savannah's Graduation Invitations. I had some scalloped cards with an end flap so I began with those I used a strip of DP that I believe is My Minds Eye from Hobby Lobby.  The flower and stem are SU Embosslits called Simple Flower and Sweetest Stem.  The Little Grad Chicken is from Dynami Designs, colored with Copics punched out with my CM circle punch.  The Thank You is a SU stamp.
I did not have enough Scalloped Flap Cards and when I went to the store to buy more, they were out.  I did find these Rickrack Cards from DCWV in White and Black.  so I used the same embellishments, just a little different placement.
I stamped the chicken on the corner of the envelopes and colored it too.  This was a fun project and I was surprised how fast it came together.  Once you have the basic design in place it all goes 1, 2, 3.  Good thing too because after all the gifts Savannah received yesterday, looks like I will be making more!!!!

A Sassy SMT

Have I got it going on this week, or what?  Let's start at the top left.  That big manila package is a sample of some sparkly new paper that works great with Copics.  My friend, Tammy from Tammy's Spot was kind enough to send me a sample of the paper from Paper Temptress called Cryogen White.  I'm going to give it a try and I will let you know what I think.  She loves it and it has a hint of a sparkle to it.  How can you go wrong with sparkle?

The rest of all my working treasures are for a surprise gift I am working on for a special someone in my life who brings me sunshine just being in the same room with her.  Can't do the big reveal just yet, so check back and you will SEEEEEEEE!

That's my tease for today.  Why don't you just grab your camera, take a pic of the things you are working on and post it here.  There is a prize from Sassy Cheryl's for one lucky winner and it is so much fun noseying around in everyone's house.  Who knows you may find a speck of dust in a corner, now wouldn't that be some delicious gossip to spread.  Second thought, you won't because crafter's always do their housework  BEFORE they scrap - don't they?

Hugs, Sassettes!
