Sassy Jackie is hosting the "Hat's On using an image with a hat or cap on" Challenge over at Sassy Cheryl's this week. I used one of Cheryl's newer sketches "Firefly Frenzy with Max & Maddie". This image took me back to my childhood when I spent many summer evenings catching lightning bugs in glass jars All the parents would sit outside and chat while all the children chased each other around seeing who could catch the most lightning bugs. Boy was life simple then.
I made this card using a new Accordion Flip 3-D die from. The die is a popular one at my LSS, Scrapbooks By The Sea. The first time it came in, it sold out before I could snag one. I was lucky, because when the second shipment came in, I was there to put the inventory out. LOL My paper is from Graphic 45's Bohemian Bazaar collection. It is beautiful on the flip side, but the pattern and color scheme didn't match the theme of my card so I decided to cover it with yellow card stock. I cut 4 pieces out of the DP and 4 pieces out of the CS. I used "YES" paste to adhere each panel to it's back which gave it a lot of strength, but has made it a little bit bulky at the fold lines when compressing for mailing. Once the base was finished I got to do the decorating.
I colored Max and Maddie with my Copics and fussy cut them out. I adhered them to two panels. I found this firefly poem online and changed the words around a bit to fit my space. I tried to find it again to give credit to the author, but I was not successful. I typed it in MS Word and punched it out with a large scalloped circle punch. The two little fireflies are actually a bumble bee stamp from SU. The big bugs are stickers from my stash. I cut the jar out of vellum using the Doodle Charms Cricut Cartridge. I printed Bugs & Hugs in MS Word. Everything else is from my stash.
Now pop on over to see what my sassy teamies have designed to stir your creative juices. When you combine their amazing talents with Cheryl's amazing sketching what else would you expect? Oh yeah, the chance to win two of those amazing digis, that's what! Go on get going I'll see you over there.
