An Apple A Day

My daughter had some surgery this week so I am in the Get Well mood today. I found this basket of apples over at The Digi Shack and you know that old saying "An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away". So Momma bear started cutting, pastin and even a little sewing to make her baby bear a little card.

I love anything country and this little basket of apples was something I just couldn't pass up. I wanted to try the sunburst quilting pattern and I thought the two just went together like two peas in a pod or like two apples in a basket (Tee Hee Hee).

I cut out 5 squares of paper that complimented each other then cut them at angles. I laid out my pattern and glued it to a base. The I took my sewing machine and sewed around the edges. I wanted a "bound" border like a quilt would have so I first tried rick rack. That made the card too heavy so I used a border punch to cut out some vanilla cream paper and glued that to the quilt. Since the card was a little too heavy to glue on to the base, I used brads. I punched out some red and vanilla flowers and used a flower brad to attach.

I typed my saying in my word program using Americana Classic Font, brought it all down to the bottom of the page and ran my card base through my printer. I used a Stampin Up border punch on the bottom of the card base too.

The digi is cut out with an oval Nestability and matted with at red check cut with a larger Nestie. I glued it on vanilla card stock and trimmed around it with my scallop shaped sissors. I popped it up with a pop dot. The apples are colored with my Copics and I colored an extra set of leaves to glue on top of the first set so I could have them hang over the red checked mat.
