Sassy Judy is hostess again this week and she is helping us add to our Birthday Card stash. I dug into my massive (and I still don't have them all) SC file and found these cuties. I hadn't worked with them in awhile, so I decided that was what I would color this week. I decided to try to follow the Sketchie Challenge over at Papertake Weekly too I hope this is close enough to this sketch.
The paper I printed the digi on is Cryogen White from the Paper Temptress. It has a sparkly finish to it. I carried those sparkles into the bike. I used a Sakura Clear Star Gel Pen with RV09 Copic for the finish. If you click on the pic and enlarge it, you can see the delicious sparkle. I also sparkled the spokes in the wheels. I tried something new by shading under the bike with a C7 and B0000 Copic Marker. I was afraid I was going to ruin the digi, but the more I worked with my coloring the happier I became with it. I just love the way this slick sparkly paper allows me to move the color around on it. The girls heads are popped out with foam tape because they tended to get lost in the printed background DP. Their clothes are paper pieced with Papertrey Ink. paper. The balloons are clear stamps from my stash and the sentiment stamp is from Artful Legacy. I used my Nesties Label 10 . The ruffle edge was made by folding some magenta ruffled ribbon in half and topping it with an edge of the printed DP. Finished off with Bakers Twine and some gems. Green polka dot paper is from Echo Park Playground collection and the floral background paper is My Minds Eye that I picked up at Aww Shucks Scrapbook Store.
When I finished the card I thought I should have used some plain paper in it. It looks a little busy for my usual style, but I am seeing so many "busy" cards I tried to step out of my comfort level. Not quite sure I achieved it, but overall I really like the finished project. Please feel free to leave any constructive comments.

Well for my part, this card is over the top awesome and I'm glad you didn't use any solid papers. I blew it up and am blown away by the "extras" in this card from the sparkling trike and wheels to the awesome job you did with the shading under the bike. Can you tell I LOVE IT?
ReplyDeleteI love your card with that darling image and all those bright colors......that's exactly how we rode our trikes when we were kids! And we played outside in dresses too....fun.
