My friend Denise shared some of these little brown bags with me last year. I intended to make treat bags, but never got around to doing it. So when Sassy Judy gave this fun challenge, I had an Ah Ha moment and dug out my bags. I decorated the front of the bag with the Sassy Cheryl pre-colored Digi, "Single Boo". I used Spellbinder Big Scallops Squares LG to cut it out and matted in 3 shades of card stock. The spider web punch is Martha Stewart and the topper was cut with my Stampin Up Top Note Die. I used heat embossing stamping technique to stamp a couple of tags and attached them to a bit of Halloween ribbon from Seasons Bobbin Ribbon.
I have to tell you a little experiment to try. I stamped the skeleton with white ink and used Opaque White Embossing Powder to emboss it. It wasn't real happy with the results, so I stamped another one with White ink and used Clear Embossing Powder. When I was heating it, I was really surprised the way the clear made the skeleton look translucent too. Loved that effect so much better with this project.
I chose to not cover the back of this bag with paper as I have others in the past. I just took some of my Halloween stamps and covered the back with them. You can see how I folded the top note and attached the ribbon on this view also.
Thank you Sassy Judy for such a fun project. It was quick and fun. I am now making 10 of them. Heading up to Wisconsin in a week so I am going to take some up there for some special little ones. I am going to assemble the bags, pack them flat in my suitcase and fill them when I get there. Won't that make a nice little surprise for my Wisconsin Babies. Oh don't worry, South Carolina Babies, you will get one too, plus one for a certain friend who put in a little "Am I getting one too?" request. :)
Fun, fun, fun! So come on give it a try. Make a treat holder and post it here.
Other challenges I plan on entering it into are:
Die Cut Dreams is also having a gift box or gift bag challenge.
Wags'n Whiskers Stamps Challenge 62 Anything but a card
One Stitch At A Time - Use a Digi
Critter Sketch Challege - Anything But a Card
Crafty Boot Challenge - Anything Goes
Have some fun and enter some challenges. Checking out these challenge blogs gives you so many great ideas for new creations. Go ahead check them out, you may just in a prize.

Loving that edging hun - made me laugh you going on about the skeleton making it translucent - I could not see it took me ages to spot it.....

Okay, you threw me for a minute, went to the challenge site and didn't see any new entries so came here and saw your darling card and was going to comment on it and was wondering why you hadn't entered it on the challenge blog...went back to check the challenge blog and yep,...there it was,..it all of its splendid halloween glory. I love your colors or course and the spider web punch is so fun, the Wisconsin group will love it. Thanks for playing the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge and confusing me...doesn't take much to do the latter :)

Great project. Thanks for joining us over at Crafty Boots. Zo x
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing about this that looks FAST, and I'm debating the easy issue. Don't you love it when something you try doesn't work, and your attempt to fix gives you something you had no idea you could create or in my case never be able to do again. Love the background on your Blog today. GOD BLESS THE USA! I promise I'm never forgetting.
