Going To The Beach aka Going To Nana's

Well here's another one of those "Gotta Haves" from Sassy Cheryl.  I have wanted to work with her ever since she came out, but I was committed to a few other cards.  Soooooo when I finally allowed myself to color her, I minimized her 4 different times and got to color her a big total of 5 times.  Let me tell you, I was in heaven.  Doesn't she just scream fun!  She is appropriately called "Going to the Beach" and in my family that means going to Nana ad Papa's house.  So I just used that theme as my inspiration.  Have you ever seen those little suitcases that say "Going to Grandma's" on them?  Well I just turned my card into a journey.

I tried to show her decreasing in size the further she got from the viewer and the closer she got to the beach. I fussy cut my images out, glued them to a orange oval (Spellbinders) that was run through a CuttleBug Embossing folder.  The sentiment on the front is a Tim Holtz stamp.  When she finally arrives at the beach, she finds a beautiful palm tree to shade her delicate little body from the scorching sun.  The sand she is walking on is torn kraft paper run through a SU embossing folder.  The palm tree is cut with a Sissix die.  The trunk is run through my crimper.  The sun is a SU stamp I fussy cut and popped up with foam tape.

I LOVE this Very Pretty DP that I found last week at Hobby Lobby.  My buddies Jeni, Kim, and I had a girls day and drove up to Florence to the Hobby Lobby.  You may have seen some pictures of our antics on Jeni and Kim's blog.   It was definitely a match for my image and I think it is so soo pretty that it will qualify for Sassy Cheryl's Pretty Paper Challenge.

Here are a few different view of the card.  I made it by cutting a 12x12 piece of card stock in half and doing fan folds at 4".  I then overlapped the two pieces and joined them with adhesive. I hope you enjoy my creation.

Go USA!!! Whoo Hoo for our athletes.

Faber Castells pencils?? You dont want super smooth card, must have blending oil, and take your time..lol..and make sure the blending stubs are made of paper, some sell them but they are actually wood...and do not work..
