Sassy Cheryl's Sassy and Sketchy

This week we are following this sketch that Sassy Trace/Tracey/Tracy created.  I have become a lover of sketches.  I spend so much time moving things around to try to create the perfect layout, but when you follow a sketch, everything quicky falls into place.  I used one of Cheryl's new digi stamps called Funky Two Layer Birthday Cake.  Isn't it a fun one.  If you would like one for yourself, just click here and you will be directed to the most time consuming Shop you can imagine.  I should have the place memorized by now, but everytime I go there I spend an hour trying to decide what to buy.

Here's the recipe for this card:
Copic marker, Recollection Roses, Large scallop Spellbinder Die, Cosmo Cricket brad, paper doily, liquid embrodiery, MS lace doily edge punch ribbon and papers from my stash.

Well I am off to bed.  I have to go back to work in the morning and it is already very late.  I took the past two days off to work on my taxes, blah blah blah.  But the dasterdly task is done and I am experiencing my annual feeling of accomplishment.  Hate taxes with a passion, but we in America must keep our Uncle Sam happy.

So come on, grab a digi from Sassy Cheryl' s delightful shop and join us this week in the challenge.  It will be fun and you just might win a free digi for your efforts.

Hoppy Birthday

Have a birthday coming up for my son so I made this card for him.  Look Jim, no ribbon.  My husband and my son always challenge me to think out of the box and stay away from ribbon.  Twine doesn't count does it?  I found these really neat brads from Recollections.  I love the way they work with the "Diamond Plate" Cuddlebug embossing folder.  The stamp is one I borrowed from a friend at a recent stamp & share we had so I don't know the manufacturer.  The tab punch is from Stampin Up.  The Happy Birthday was from Artful Legacy  and all the paper was Stampin Up:  Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Kraft and Very Vanilla.  I ran the Kraft through the crimper for some more lines and texture to the layers  Colored with Copic and the background spots was made with a another stamp from Artful Legacy.

I would say I chose this frog because he represents my son waiting to find his Princess to kiss him, but then he would kill me so I won't say that.   (Shhhhh)   I really just thought the frog was so cute and wanted an excuse to make him into a card.

It's Show Me Thursday Over At Sassy Cheryls

Little different space to peek at this week.  This is my meeting room at the bank where I work.  I spend my lunch hours eating and coloring in here (when not hitting Aww Shucks Scrapbook Store, AC Moore or Michaels).  It sure renews my spirit to take a stress free coloring break in the middle of the day.  You will usually find 2 boxes of Copics here.  Jennifer and I spend many lunches coloring in this room.  She didn't make it today though, she had a romantic lunch with that good looking Hunk of a Man, Steve.  Can you believe she gave up coloring for lunch with her hubby?  Must be true love, that's all I can say.

If you want to see where other nosy people spend their crafting time, just click here and you can peek in some more windows.  Better yet, snap a pic of your work area, load it to your blog and enter it in the Challenge this week.  You just may be the lucky winner of a Sassy Cheryl digi to color on your lunch hour.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #55 Use Something New

This was one challenge I had no problem doing.  I got to use something new.  My biggest challenge was making the color scheme work.  I had this new package of paper from Stampin Up called, Greenhouse Gala that I was dying to use.  I won this digi from Sassy Cheryl and had not used it either so I teamed them up for the challenge.  I have to say I must have colored the digi 3 or 4 times until I came up with the right color scheme, but I am pleased with the outcome.  Lots of geometric lines going on there, I hope you agree that they work together.

The digi was colored with my Copics and cut out with my Scalloped Rectangle Nestibilitie.  The tag was punched with my SU tag punch and stamped with the SU Tiny Tags sentiment.  The tie was some black and white bakers twine.   The corners were punched with my SU corner punch and then embossed with the SU Square Lattice folder.  Finished off with some black pearls.

So why don't you pop on over to Sassy Cheryl's store (plan on spending a long time shopping) pick up a digi and enter your own card in the challenge.  You MUST  use something new, so this is your big opportunity to take a trip to your local craft store and pick up something brand new to play with.  Just tell you dear hubby that you HAVE to do it.  It is a requirement.  LOL

Happy shopping!  Hugs to you, Linda.

It's Color Me Time at Sassy Cheryl's

Imagine this, getting asked to color.  That is my kinda "dream" command!!  I love to color and play and it is hard not to accept a challenge.  If you would like to play along, click here and check out all the fun. This week I chose the cutest bunny.  He is called Too Much Chocolate, but I don't think he ate too much chocolate, I  think he is upset with all people who are dieting.  For goodness sakes people, it is Easter!  The poor little Easter Bunny hops blisters all over his precious little paws to bring us Peeps and CHOCOLATE and jelly beans.  What thanks do we give him?  "Sorry, I am on a diet I can't eat any candy this year".  Nope, it just ain't right!

To make this card, I used some glitter paper in pink that best bud Jen gave me.  The DP is some very old grass paper I found in my stash.  I used EK Success Pet Paw border punch to punch the paw print border.  The fence is MS Halloween fence.  I just trimmed off the bats. The basket is cut at 1" from my Cricket Doodlecharms.  I cut the eggs out of a scrap of Easter paper in my stash.  The sentiment was typed on my computer and is a play on the Chick Fil A logo.  I colored the bunny with my copics and used the terry cloth effect to simulate fur on the bunny.  I made two images and cut both out, popped one up to give the motion effect to the bunny,  I will say I had to use the hot glue gun to get the dp to adhere to the glitter paper.  That glitter just absorbs all the sticky from my ususal adhesive.  Wallah, finished product.

Sidenote:  I spent the morning with some of my Stampin Up Club buddies this morning making Easter Cards for the Blue Star Mothers to send to our troops who are deployed.  We made 100 cards that will go in Easter boxes of goodies.  We were discussing what all would go into the boxes and Michelle told us that the #1 request from the troops was Peeps!  They love getting those Peeps from home.

Sassy Cheryl's Inspired By Nature

I have admired this digi for some time, but did not have the opportunity to purchase it.  Well last week I won a free digi and this week the challenge was "Inspired By Nature", so I call that a perfect fit!  I chose my color scheme from a piece of DP I wanted to use, but ended up not even using it.  I am pleased with the end results though.  I really like the softness of these colors.

If you have been following my blog, you will know that I always see a story in the digis I color.  This one reminds me of a young love that starts out as friends and grows into true love as adults  The tree reminded me of the book The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.    I used to love reading it to my Grans when they were small.  Sorry Marlene, I got a little sappy there.

Colored it with my Copics, used some Paper Glaze for her shoes, Meadow Flower Soft for the grass.  The Kraft  and the Celery are both from Stampin Up.  The aqua dot DP is from Bo Bunny.  The sentiment is SU Sale A Bration Punch Bunch.  (Got it free last month, whoo hoo for me)  Popped on some paper roses, added some ribbon and safety pinned the sentiment onto the ribbon.

If you would like to get this digi, click here and you can make it yours.  Color it up, paste it on some pretty paper. and enter it in the Inspired By Nature Challenge this week.  Hope to see you there and thanks for popping in and checking out my goodies.

It's Show Me Thursday at Sassy Cheryl's

It's snoopy time again with the Sassy crowd at Sassy Cheryl's.  The time when we give everyone a peek into what we are busy working on.  This week I am sharing two photos.  The first is my Precious Granddaughter Ashley.  She came down to spend some of her spring break with us.  I printed out some of my Sarah Kay digis for her and she colored them with my Prismas.   You can tell how intense she is studying her work by the expression on her face.  I love the way her fingers turn up.  Ever since she was born she would stretch out her fingers and shake her hands when she talked or ran and there she is doing it again.  My goodness I love my "B".

Here's my workspace on my side of the table.  See that gorgeous MS stamp set?  It cost me $2.00!!  I won the cash drawing last night at my Inky Digits card club which was $14, used my AC Moore 40% off coupon and got the set for $16.00.  Whoo Hoo, love a great deal!  While I was there I just had to pick up some aqua ribbon and some cute little animal buttons (figured I deserve the splurge since I got such a deal on the punches).  The card is one I am currently working on for the Nature Challenge at Sassy Cheryls' and the
paw print border punch is one I borrowed from my buddy Jeni.

The stamped images in the lower left corner are some the images I stamped at Jeni's Stamp & Share Saturday.  Some of the Inky Digits brought 10 of their favorite stamps, stamp pads and paper and we all shared our favorite stamps with each other.  What fun we had oohing and ahhhing over little pieces of rubber and vinyl.  Can you identify with that?

Well come on take a picture of what you are working on and link it here. You'll get a chance to win a free digi from the fabulous Sassy Cheryl.  Thanks for stopping by today.

The Thinking Spot

Don't you just love this sweet swee digi?  Sassy Cheryl called this The Thinking Spot and I just fell in love with it. The moment my eyes hit this I knew I was in love.  I think I just may make it over and over again and never change the color scheme.  Click here if you find it a "Have to Have" too.  If you get it by Monday, it is only $2.00.

I colored with my Copics, sponged the clouds with Pearlescent Blue  Brilliance ink and cut it out with Nestie Label 10.  The circle was cut with another Nestie.  I made the flower popped a little pearl in it added a couple of leaves with my MS punch.  I was over at Jeni's house today and while she was doing some domestic things I put this card together.  She told me I could use any of her stash I wanted so I cut a  piece of pink striped ribbon and "borrowed" the blue and the multi design paper which were from a K & Company pad.  All the cardstock is Stampin Up of course.

Wah Lah and it was done.  I am going to enter it into the Color Me Challenge and the Pink Challenge at Sassy Cheryl's.  Hope to win another digi and if Cheryl's on likes the coloring my card will be featured on her Blog.  How great is that?

May Your Dreams Take Flight

This little girl has a lot on her mind.  She is graduating from high school and has to make the big decision, "What Do I Do Next"  She grabs her best Bunnie and goes outside to think, dream and decide.  Okay I know you didn't see that when you saw the image, but I did and since I am the creator, I can make my own story up.  Ha Ha.  The image is from, Who Else but Sassy Cheryl's and is called Nature Nap Girl and it also comes in a boy version.  You can get it here and while you are there, check out all the sweet goodies Cheryl Alger has to offer.  As a friend of mine said, grab a cup of coffee and be prepare to be there awhile, because she has so much to offer it won't be a fast visit.

Here is the view from the right inside flap.  As you can see it is an uneven fold card and the digi is placed in the center.  I think this gives a little more interest than your standard card fold.  I will be placing a sentiment inside for the graduate I am giving this too.

I colored the digi with my copics sponged the sky and the grass.  I used my circle and Labels 3 Spellbinder to cut out the digi and the mat.  The DP is from The Morning Rain collection from The Paper Loft.  All the cardstock is from Stampin Up.  The sentiment is Paper Trey Ink  The Pond Collection.  The ribbon and the jewels are from my stash.  I made the yellow flower using the quilling technique.

There it is my unusual Graduation Card.  I am entering it in the Sassy Cheryl's Color Me Challenge.  I won this digi at the Blog Hop last week, so I hope it brings me luck and I will win another one this week.  I just can't get enough of Sassy Cheryl.  Click here and join us in the fun.   Just one Challenge and you will be hooked, just like me.

It's Show Me Thursday a Sassy Cheryl's

Well it's that time again to peek at everyone's woek.  I went shopping last night over at Sassy Cheryls' store and absolutely could not wait to start coloring today.  You will see a couple of the images I got free from winning the blog hop last week.  I will have them both colored and entered in challenges this week, so check back to see the results.

On the left are two of the flowers I made.  I have been working with different paper flowers and last night I made the pink one.  It took all of about 15 minutes and I am going to make some more to keep on hand.  The yellow flower was one of my quilling attempt.  I don't seem to get enough of flowers right now.  I must have a good case of spring fever.

Last week some of you thought my workspace was neat.  Well that was only what I "ALLOWED" the camera to capture.  This week I had a big mess on my work mat, pushed it all to the left and laid my digis down to color. To the left is my big mess, so bad I don't dare show anyone.  Not even my bestest crafting buddies ha ha.

Come on, grab you cameras and take a picture of what you are working on.  It is inspiration to all of us crafters who are starving for new ideas.  Take a picture of your space and link it here.  (There's a free digi offered to a lucky  entry)  Yes I said FREE!

Pearls, Satin & A Blog Hop at Sassy Cheryl's

Have to say I am quite pleased how this card turned out.  This is the first image I fell in love with at Sassy Cheryls.  It is called "Sassy Opinion" and you can have it this week on sale or for free if you are lucky enough to win at the Blog Hop.  There are prizes galore and the grand prize is a $25.00 gift certificate to Sassy Cheryl's.  So click here for the details and join in the fun.  Unfortunately you have to act fast because it ends tomorrow night at 8:00 EST.

I colored with my copics and used White Opal Liquid Pearls for the polka dots on the dress and bow.  The tights were glittered with a combination of Cotton Candy and  Diamond Star Dust Stickles.  The shoes and the glass mirror were done with Paper Glaze.  I cut out the digi with the Top Note die from Stampin UP.  The border punch is MS Goo, but I thought it looked like a bunch of tongues wagging.  Pearls and Satin Ribbon is from my stash.  The sentiment was my creation made in word and cut out with the scalloped rectangle Nestabilitie.  The butterfly was cut from a scrap in my scrap bin.

I have this Sassy little birthday card ready for one of my Sassy little friends!  I can just see her doing this to herself on her birthday.  But alas, suck it up girlfriend you are just getting older whether you like it or not!

Guest Designer Spot

Last Saturday My daughter and her daughter, Ashley and one of her sons, Jonathan aka Fin aka Finny came up from Charleston for a Coffee and Cards.  Jeni and her Mom, Jan and her daughter, Savannah came over  and we cut and pasted and colored and had the best day.  (Until my grandson fell and dislocated his knee and a trip to the hospital ended the festivites).
Cami has been a scrapbooker for several years, but was never interested in card making.  She had 3 birthdays in her family so she decided to make the cards for them this year.  I was so impressed by my daughter's talents, I had to post them on my blog.

The first card is for her Mother-In-Law, Joan whose birthday is March 3rd.

The  second card is for her son Chase, whose birthday is March 3rd.

The third card is for her Grandmother Riedel (my Mom) whose birthday is March 3rd.

Didn't she do a fantastic job.  This was her first attempt at cards and she even colored Chase's card with Copics which she had never used before.  I think she needs to do this more often don't you.

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Thursday 14

It is that time again to peek at what I am working on.  I have a whole bunch of Flower Soft that I bought from a fellow stamper.  Carol just didn't like working with it, so she sold a whole big bag of goodies to me at a really good price.  Now you all know it is against the law to pass up a bargain and there is one thing I am is Law Abiding.  .)

I am working on a tree that I stamped with the SU Pendant Park set and added flower soft and a cute little turtle from Denami Designs.  The Sassy Cheryl digi is the one I have to finish tonight for this weeks satin and pearl challenge.

That cute little flower pot card I made at my Inky Digits club Tuesday night.  Susan taught the class and we had a ball with this one.  You can tell we all have spring fever real bad when we fought over the flowers.  Everyone thought I took too long choosing mine.  I think I may have heard the name "flower hog".  :)

So come on and join in the fun.  Take a picture of what you are working on and post it on Cheryl's blog.  Click here and it will take you where you need to be.  Then you can snoop at everyone's site and get some new ideas for yourself and you might win a Sassy Cheryl Digi to play with!   Come on you know you want to snoop.  Don't be shy.
